The Community Living camp, a compulsory activity of second-year B.Ed program was held on 10th May 2022 to 15th May 2022 in Mannam Memorial College, Vilakudy, Kollam. The theme of the camp was “Nature, Agriculture, culture Education on yoga, disaster management”. It was an unforgettable experience that created a huge bonding between children and teachers of this institute. Principal of this institute Sri Balakrishna kurup was the convener of the Community living camp. Jayakumari D (Asst prof in Education), Revathy teacher ( Asst prof in Mathematics), Liby teacher (Asst prof in Physical Science), Jiby teacher (Asst prof in Malayalam), Maya teacher (Asst prof in social science), Riyas sir (Asst prof in Natural Science) were the Co-ordinators of the camp.
CAMP SESSIONS
The community living camp, which lasted for 5 days, consisted of 5 sessions.
Inauguration (10/05/2022)
The first day of the camp, began on May 10th 2022 with the registration process of students. The inauguration of the camp, which started at 11.30 am on the same day, was done by Sri Radha Krishna Pillai ( Rtd HM , Executive member of NSS Union). Sri Balakrishna kurupu (Principal) welcomed the gathering. The presidential addressing of gathering was done by Sri Santhosh Kumar ( Rtd Principal). Sri Vijayakumar ( former principal , MMHS)Vilakudy provided felicitation. The formal session was then followed by the 1st session.
Session 1 (10/05/2022)
The first session was on the topic of ‘Adolescent Psychology’. Sri Vijayakumar ( former principal , MMHS, Vilakudy) provided a class on Adolescent psychology. He provided a clear idea about the growth and development of a child and the duty of a teacher on him. He told his vide variety of stories in his teaching experience which generated an interest in teaching .It was an interactive session. Vishakh Krishna said vote of thanks for the meeting. The session was ended on 1.00 pm.
Session 2 (10/05/2022)
The second session was on the topic Disater Management.this session was handled by Sri sivakumar ( officer at Fire and Rescue office, Pathanapuram). He spoke about the various causes, remedies and traumas that came along with the disasters especially in our localities. He also spoke about the first aid to several situations . He also demostrarted some easy medical actions that can save a life.Vote of Thanks was proposed by Neethu. The session started at 2.00 pm and ended at 5.00 pm.
Day 2 (11/05/2022)
On the second day, the programmes started at 7.30 am, The day started with conditioning class as well as yoga practices at open space. It was then followed food and cleaning time respectively. The formal session of the day started with prayer by the college choir.
Session 3
This session of the Community living camp was dedicated to ‘Poetry and Drama’. Section 3 on the subject of "Poetry and Drama", Mr. Radhakrishnan, Kudavattoor, ( Malayalam teacher at Ramavilasom High School, Valakom), started a conversation with students about his poetic life. He also taught us about he usage of mouth, tongue, face expression, voice etc in real classrooms. He provided group activities to all students and all of them have taken part in various group activities. Vote of thanks was proposed by Hanna C Philip ( Physical Science). The session ended at one o'clock in the afternoon/
Session 4
The fourth section of camp was handled by Sri Ramachandran who is the Agricultural officer at Vilakudy agricultural Dept. He provided a class on Needs and Importance of agriculture. He provided as with the different methods of seeding for different crops. About the seasons and the methods to be adopted at the climate change. Ashmi Habeeb provided vote of thanks for the session.
Day 3 (12/05/2022)
Section 5
The 5th session which began at 11.00 am ended at 1 p.m. The talk was led by Sri Mubarak (SHO, Kunnicode) and Sri Eliyas ( SHO, Cyber Dept , Kottarakkara). They have provided as with a very informative classes on cyber crimes. The session also included of a Q&A session were students cleared their doubts on different cyber related issues. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Geethu Krishna (Physical Science).
Session 6
The last session of the camp was handled by Adv. Arundhathi P Nair. She explained us about the essential laws and rules. How to seek the help of judiciary as an ordinary man. She cleared the misunderstanding of the students about the laws and its loopholes. The session started at 1.40 pm and ended at 4.45 pm.
Day 4 ( 13/05/2022)
The day was assigned for a study tour. We went to Alappuzha and had a boat traveling. The service is scheduled to be kicked off from Alappuzha Station at 11.30 a.m. connecting Punnamada - Vembanad back water - Muhamma - Pathiramanal - Kumarakom - “R” Block - Marthandam - Chithira - “C” Block - Kuppapuram and finally back at Alappuzha. The seat layout of Vega-2 vessel is arranged as 40 seats in A/c cabin and 80 seats is non A/c cabin. The commuters can enjoy a four hour comfortable journey with the vessel. Also there gets 15 minutes break time at Pathiramanal and tiny refreshment in the vessel coordinated through Kudumbasree Mission. It was all about the day, we enjoyed a lot.
Day 5 (15/05/2022)
The final day we had a huge cleaning session. We cordially cleaned the entire campus and cultivated some plants. After that we students with the teachers visited a provident home nearby.
Valedictory function
The closing ceremony began at 4. pm with a prayer service. The function ended at 5.55 pm with national anthem. These days are very enjoyful, informative days.
